Yoga Therapy - healing from the inside out

What is Yoga Therapy?

Animals instinctively know what they need in order to get better. Human bodies do too, if only we hear and understand the subtle messages it gives us. We are bombarded with contradictory information on how we should eat, sleep and exercise, that sometimes we just don't know what to believe anymore. Yoga Therapy works with the body's in-built ability to heal itself from the inside out and assists any treatment or therapy we are receiving.  It is a complimentary therapy that uses the ancient techniques of yoga to help with specific health issues.

Yoga Therapy assists the body's natural ability to heal itself - from the inside out.

"Yoga Therapy cultivates body/mind integration and a sense of harmony with life. It promotes the innate healing resources of the body, helping restore the proper functioning of the various bodily systems."   Yoga Bio-Medical Trust, London, UK

What are the benefits?

Modern humans lead busy lives filled with constant overload of mental stimulation. As a result we tend to live 'up in our heads' and out of touch with what our body needs at any given time. Even when we have failed to take note of the more subtle messages and the body gives us stronger signals in the form of head aches, physical tension, chronic pain or illness, we still tend to shut it up by taking a pain killer, a pill or prescription medication of some kind.  These generally only deal with the symptoms, and the original underlying cause for our dis-ease remains. Ancient Yogic meditation and relaxation practices help us reconnect with the body, giving it a chance to heal and recover.

Specific Yoga Asana (postures) help balance flow of energy in the body by removing blockages and toxicity, and increasing energy and flow where depleted.

Is Yoga Therapy for me?

If you are experiencing less than perfect health, undergoing any medical treatment or recovering from an injury or operation, Yoga Therapy is for you.  At these times in your life when you especially need the extra support of yoga , meditation and relaxation, large group yoga classes may not be suitable for you for many reasons. Your experienced Yoga Therapist will design a therapeutic and restorative Yoga practice specifically for your needs, to assist and speed up your recovery, using the ancient practices of Yoga Asana, Pranayama (breathing exercises), Meditation and Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation techniques).

Yoga Therapy is suitable for people of all ages, levels of health and fitness.

"If you can breathe, you can do Yoga."
